For a more casual look, a soft button down collar is ideal and this can be made with one or two breast pockets. Men’s classic Tuxedo shirt styles
Tuxedo shirts are in a class and category all of their own.
Many men try to get away with a basic white shirt for formal occasions, but a gentleman of style and substance wears a tuxedo shirt. Tuxedo shirts are white (or winter white) and feature pleated fronts or textured fabrics, called a bib. The bib, often made with a pique fabric, gives the shirt a clean and crisp finish. Tuxedo shirts feature wing-tip (or wing) collars and turndown collars. The turndown collars are often made with the same fabric as the shirt front.
The wing-tip collar shirt is the most traditional and is worn with a bow tie. The wings are tucked behind the bow tie. Sometimes a cummerbund is also worn. Formal tuxedo shirts are made without buttons, so you need a set of studs to complete the look.
A turndown collar tuxedo shirt has a similar collar to a business style shirt. Slightly less formal than a wing-tip collar, the turndown collar shirt can be worn with a bow tie or regular tie. Another less formal tuxedo shirt often seen is the band-collar shirt which is effectively a formal shirt without a collar. It is usually worn with a fancy button or a collar band.
A tuxedo shirt is an excellent investment if you’re serious about looking good at formal events and occasions like weddings. You can rent formal wear, but nobody wants to wear something that’s just been worn to the prom.
